Wow! I was really surprised when I saw the rating was only 2.4 and for this location. I am a pizza snob and connoisseur and in my opinion, Marco's is the Best commercial pizza place and this particular location on Pelham in Dearborn Heights. I like a pizza filled with air and strong gluten rest so rise well (1"+) on the crust, which Marco's has always done with a lot of void in the crust. The sauce is great and does not burn my stomach like some pizza places (Bonito's). I don't get to eat it so often as moved and it's a 20-30 min drive one way. Yesterday's pizza was good, but there were some changes I noted from all my previous experiences and a little disappointed in one, but I'll try to identify them. Pros: 1. The pizza was done perfectly (color) and hot. The sauce tasted great as always, so very happy with this. 2. The cheese was thicker than other places and very "gooy", so when you pulled a piece away, the cheese stretch and indefinitively. 3. The pizza was "heavy" and when compared to other pizza places ordered from, I would say, 2 to 3 times!! Not sure why, maybe the cheese and maybe the dough more dense? 4. The bottom was done perfectly, but more "cracker-like"! Some people may like this, some maybe not. I like a still bottom, but not cracker like and this was different than I had before! So, not sure if any changes to the dough recipe or how being cooked, but noted the difference and not as I would have expected and preferred. 5. My biggest disappointment was the crust! As I said, I like a lot of airyiness and voids and this one was not as I had in the past! Likewise, it was lower-rise, say 1/2" instead of the 1" I'm used to and prefer. Do to the above, I can't rate it as a "5" as previously. I think a "3" would be too low and they don't allow any partial ratings, therefore, I will have to rate it a "4", but still, significantly higher than the 2.4 average and hope they take this constructive criticism into account and make the necessary changes to bring back to where it was, so that I can rate it a "5". Right now, my #2 is Hungry Howie's, which they do have a very negative in it's not temperature "hot" when I pick it up! That was not a problem with Marcos.
I love Marco's pizza it is so good their pizza is fresh with real cheese they always put good amount of cheese and pepperoni on the pizza had them in Texas and found out the were in Dearborn Mi go often when I want pizza had several different ones the best will keep trying different ones
Fist time trying this place out. I ordered a cheese pizza(I'm super simple when it comes to pizza) and wow, honestly one of the best cheese pizzas I've ever had. I asked for light cheese, just how I like it. Paired perfectly with their ranch. I could've easily eaten that whole box of pizza but I guess there's this thing called self control I'm working on so....more for later lol! Overall, Vernon who took my order over the phone was so patient and took the time to take my order even though I can hear the phone in the back ringing. He didn't rush me which is extremely unlikely with pizza shops. And when I picked up my order he greeted me as soon as I went in. He seemed to be the only guy who took the orders and made that pizzas the night I picked up my pizza. More power to him for that! Pizza was easily a 5/5. Will definitely be back.
